We have been in Romania for nearly a month.
I love the animals here like horses, cows, piglets, chicks, giant rabbits, calves and cranes. They have wild bear that will eat you whole and wolves that live in the woods.
I also like the cottages here. They are made of oak and mud to use like cement. The thick layer of mud keeps them insulated so they are warm in winter and cool in summer. It gets to minus 25 degrees Celsius, that is the coldest. In summer it is hottest, it is about 28 degrees Celsius now.
Romania is a 24 hour drive from London and is next to Turkey and Bulgaria. Ukraine is to the north and we went there for a walk. Romania is in Europe but they don’t use Euros for money, they use Lei.
I really like it here in Romania.
Hi Ollie–I’ve been seeing some of your Mum’s photos of Romania on Facebook. It looks like a really pretty place. The animals are adorable.
Adoooorable! Is Dino OK? Hi and thanks for the comment 🙂
You are having the best life. I love reading about all your adventures.
Thank you Kym for the comment 🙂
I love your writing Ollie, it gives me a really lovely picture of Romania. Sounds a bit scary there with the bears and wolves! I hear there are vampires too…..
Read this in a spooky voice. There are vampires here that will suck all your blood out so you look like a deflated whoopy cushion. Hi liz 🙂 Lol
Dear OllieThank you for this information about Romania and why you like it there. Interesting that they use materials that they have around to make their homes, rather than going to factories to get building materials like steel and cement. I guess that makes them so much cheaper than in other countries. Not sure i like the sound of the very cold winters! Have you learned any of the language of Romania? Do you talk to local people and have you met any young people? I like living here in Bermagui where the scenery is beautiful too and i feel part of the community. Tomorrow we are driving up to Canberra to go to Leo Nellie and Scarlett’s Grandparents Day at their school. It is always very special. After that we are driving to Perisher Valley for 3 nights in the snow country. There is a music festival on and we are staying at my Lodge. Thank you so much for writing to me. Give my love to you and the family. much love from Granny xxxxxxxxx
